Tas Tóbiás is the author of Offbeat, one of the leading city and culture guides in Budapest and Vienna. During this 50-minute tour, Tas will provide a fascinating overview of the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest and showcase some of his favorite paintings in the permanent collection. You will learn about the period of Austria-Hungary and the steps that gave rise to one of the great Old Masters collections here in Budapest. Tas will detail why the museum building resembles a collection of Greek temples, and why the wonderful interior halls evoke everything from a medieval basilica to a Renaissance palazzo. He will also highlight paintings that are especially dear to him, providing a short background and context on artworks by Raphael, Cranach, Titian, Tintoretto, El Greco, Pieter Bruegel, Bronzino, Van Dyck, Poussin, Saenredam, and Willem Claesz Heda. Note that this tour is in English.
