A Thousand Years of History on the Canvas 130 years ago, Budapest was transformed into a fairy-tale city. In City Park, people encountered giants, dwarves, and a fountain dancing in colorful lights, and the bravest among them could even take a ride in a hot-air balloon. These attractions were part of the grand series of celebrations marking the 1,000th anniversary of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin in 1896. How did the visual arts become part of the entertainment, and what works of art could visitors see at the Millennium National Exhibition?

We invite moms and dads for a guided tour to enjoy art with their one-year-old or younger babies. As museum educators and mothers alike, we have found that there are few museum programs that appeal to new parents. So with these guided tours we create an atmosphere in which no one is embarrassed by a crying or hungry baby.
