The realm of colors provides an inexhaustible theme in art, and green is one of the most versatile and exciting colors of all. In sacred art, it can be associated with the Garden of Eden; in landscape painting, it can represent the radiance of natural sunlight; and in Zsolnay ceramics, the iconic eosin glaze displays shades of green. During the guided tour, part of the Mama, Look! program series, we will explore the different shades of green in the National Gallery, while learning about painting and applied arts across different eras.

We invite moms and dads for a guided tour to enjoy art with their one-year-old or younger babies. As museum educators and mothers alike, we have found that there are few museum programs that appeal to new parents. So with these guided tours we create an atmosphere in which no one is embarrassed by a crying or hungry baby.
