During the guided tour, we will explore the exhibition titled Pictures of Tranquillity. We will also view Adolf Fényes's (1867–1945) works alongside pieces from the permanent exhibition. Adolf Fényes's name may not be familiar to everyone, but his paintings offer a glimpse into a world where sunlight floods even the most modest interiors and market scenes come vividly to life. In his work, everyday life is given the same importance as historical scenes. The works of this sensitive Hungarian painter from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries bring us closer to quiet moments and perhaps to ourselves. As we wander through his sunlit landscapes and intimate interiors, we will discuss how his work fits into the shadow of French Impressionism, the connection between a veranda in Szolnok and Paris, and what these genre paintings, over 100 years old, tell us about the simple joys and sorrows of the people of that time.
We invite moms and dads for a guided tour to enjoy art with their one-year-old or younger babies. As museum educators and mothers alike, we have found that there are few museum programs that appeal to new parents. So with these guided tours we create an atmosphere in which no one is embarrassed by a crying or hungry baby.
